This can either be your router, or an ad-hoc network running from your Mac. If you’re getting slow response times using a router, try creating an ad-hoc network instead on your Mac to link your iPhone directly to your computer. Follow this guide if you want to create an ad-hoc network. To connect, press ‘Settings’ on the iPad, then ‘Wi-Fi’. From here you can choose from a list of available networks. Pick the one you’re using; either the router or the ad-hoc network you’ve just created. Open TouchOSC Editor and upload the TouchOSC template to your iPhone by using the ‘Sync’ function. There’s a commonly reported problem of people having trouble uploading templates though TouchOSC editor. If you’re having trouble, hexler.net recommend that you try uploading the template to your iPhone using iTunes instead. Just connect to iTunes and drag and drop the template in. Once loaded, click the ‘Info’ button in TouchOSC and ensure that coreMIDI is enabled. Open Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup. If you can’t see the ‘MIDI Studio’ window, click Window > Show MIDI Window from the top menu. Double click the ‘Network’ icon and the ‘MIDI Network Setup’ window will appear. Select your iPad from the ‘Directory’ panel and click ‘Connect’. The default name for the network connection is ‘Session 1′. Change this to iPhone in the ‘Local Name’ field. Open Traktor, go to ‘Preferences’, then ‘Controller Manager’. Click the large ‘Import’ button at the bottom of this screen and browse for the suitable TSI file (depending on whether you’re using Traktor 1 or Traktor 2). Ensure that MIDI In and MIDI Out on this screen are set to iPhone or whatever you named the network session in ‘MIDI Network Setup’. Windows: Ensure you have installed all the programs listed in System Requirements. Open TouchOSC Editor and upload the TouchOSC template to your iPhone by using the ‘Sync’ function. Once loaded, click the ‘Info’ button in TouchOSC and ensure that coreMIDI is enabled. It’s recommended that you connect to your PC via an ad-hoc network, rather than through a router. To do this on Windows 7, you can use Connectify for free. It turns your PC into a wireless hotspot. Follow this guide for Vista, and this guide for XP to set up an ad-hoc network on an earlier OS. On your iPhone, make sure you’re connected to the network. This will either be your router, or the ad-hoc network you’d just set up and named. To connect, press ‘Settings’, then ‘Wi-Fi’. From here you can choose from a list of available networks. Pick the one you’re using; either the router or the ad-hoc network. Download, install and run rtpMIDI. You should already see your computer name in the ‘My Sessions’ windows. If so, ensure the box is ticked. If not, click the + button then tick the box next to your computer’s name. Rename the network session to iPhone. You should also see the name of your iPad in the ‘Directory’ window. Click it to highlight and click ‘Connect’. The name of the iPhone should now be shown in the ‘Participants’ window. Open Traktor, go to ‘Preferences’, then ‘Controller Manager’. Early look at new IOS game Block Ninjas

ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Block Ninjas is a 2d action plat-former for your IOS & OSX devices. I want to bring old school side-scrolling shoot-em / beatem up action to the iPhone, iPad and Mac. The entire game is being developed solely by myself. But of course with family and friends support and hopefully yours.
The game style is a mix of enhanced 8bit block ninjas / characters in a hand drawn and pixelated world. With the different abilities and powers such as magical ninja stars, bombs, jumping off walls doing flips and kicking some butt. There will be a ton of unlock-able playable characters. From other types of ninjas to babies, zombies, robots and so on. Each character with their own ninja throwing weapons and skills.
The art of the game is either hand drawn scanned into the computer and edited from there or is designed pixel by pixel or stock art photos then edited a little to give it a smoother integrated look. All the music and sound effects are composed by my self with some help and ideas from family and friends.
The level design is made with a simple idea or sketch then based off that I would design play and test the level to make sure its fun.The stages will have some randomness to them. So when you play the game its not the exact same every time. Enemies will be in different positions flying through the air and running at you from all different directions. The stages will also have physics to make the game play more fun and sometimes challenging. Such as bigger enemies are heavier and harder to move so watch out for them when they come flying towards you. The ipad and osx versions will also have a 2 player battle and co-op mode. I will also be working on a way to have online play and maybe even a level editor.
Kickstarter allows an awesome relation ship between me the developer and each and every fan. This includes getting the fans involved with game design ideas and even designing some playable and non playable characters off of some Kickstarters likenesses. Also providing neat rewords for those who pledge is a great way to show my appreciation for your help
I have spent quite a bit of money and time on the project so far. Buying an iMac, iPhone and 1st gen iPad. But still need help in funding to pay off the credit cards used to buy them. I’d also need some help getting newer gen iPad 2 and older IOS devices to test the game on. Maybe even a macbook to work on the game while on the road or on lunch / breaks at work. Instead of being stuck in front of my desk with any of my free time. Funding for more art supplies, licenses, and other legal fees is also needed and very appreciated. I work a full time job right now. But with some of this funding. It would allow me to take extra days off work to work solely on this project which would help out immensely. If I reach my goal you can rest assured knowing all the funds will be used in getting the game tested and finished in an earlier time frame with quality and game play in mind. These funds would make my dream of becoming a game developer come true. Hopefully becoming a full time job not just a hobby and you can be part of this dream.
Help fund an awesome 2d ninja action plat-former for IOS and OSX and get great stuff for doing so :)

Some goals with the funds are…

  • Take more time off work to work on game.
  • Buy Macbook to work on the game while away from my desk.
  • Buy more art supplies to help design the game.
  • Get a good high quality Mic to record voice overs and sound effects.
  • Pay off credit debt that was from starting this game.
  • Buy iPad 2 and older IOS devices to test this game on and other future releases.
  • Pay licenses and other legal fees.
  • To involve backers such as your self in making this game awesome.

Some goals for the game are

  • To make around 20-30 levels for the first release
  • To make unlockable mini games
  • To work more on the art style and design
  • To make a battle and co-op mode for the osx and ipad :)
  • Check into making a level editor and online play
  • Create more playable characters and enemies and power ups

News – Developing IOS Games

Sorry for the delay on TouchOSC Templates I got a little side tracked working on developing some iPhone and iPad games. One big game im working on is a Ninja Action plat-former type game with a unique art style. It will be on both iphone and ipad. The game play is a cross between Contra/Metal Slug/ My crazy imagination. Jumping all over the place doing flips bouncing off walls shooting magic ninja stars and kicking ass. Has losts of power ups and really addicting game play. And of course will have lot of unlock-able characters. Oh and HUGE crazy bosses. Im also working on another fun game that made for both iphone and ipad. The iPad version will also come with a 2 player battle mode. Its going to be an adventure plat-former game kind of a mix of Little Big Planet, Super Mario and Super Meat Boy. Tons of unique un lockable playable characters with there own special abilities. Very cool art style with real world settings and level design. Will also have a pretty cool story. 3rd game im working on is a party drinking game for bother iphone and ipad. Its kinda of like some drinking card games like waterfall but more random with a ton of crazy drinking rules. Plus mini games! Last but not least is a virtual pet type game with wacky animations and sounds plus a ton of mini games. I have a lot more ideas but those are the ones im currently working on. I hope to have at least the drinking game and ninja game done in a month or two. I will try to keep converting and making new touchosc templates in between the time of my full time job, Djing, ios game developing and social life. Hopefully things will take off and I will no longer have to work full time :) and work more on what I really like to do . I will be posting screen shots once I get the games almost complete. At least with all the graphics.
