New version of Slider template is almost complete. Just working on some minor tweaks and mapping issues. Please check back at this post within a few days ill have it uploaded.

Whats New?
Scratch/Nudge Pad at the top of each deck – Needs some fine tuning to get the right feel
Added Browser button to switch view to big browser to select tracks
Made FX sliders activate just by touching them no need to hold fx button down – Having mapping problems sometimes the effect stays on even after letting go of the slider…?
Added 4 Hot Cue buttons - Having mapping problems figuring out how to set the cue/delete cue and jump to cue with current button layout..

If you have any suggestions on how to change/fix any of these please leave a comment below.
PS: Sorry for not updating in a while I have been working 6 day weeks so I haven’t had time to work on this much.

I may have to start asking for donations or worse sell my templates via google checkout or paypal to keep the website up since google ads do not pay much at all maybe 50 cents a month :( . What do you think?

Updated Template Version 1.0

Changed a few things around. Made the Rotary eq’s bigger and more spread out easier to use. Also changed playlist to a Fader that is effected by acceleration when scrolling through your list (faster you swipe the more it will scroll down the list). Also Added more playlist function buttons.

NEW #2 Fader Template

This template uses faders with no Rotary Eq’s. Also uses the same playlist fader as in #1. This is a beta version things maybe moved around a bit. But it feels a lot cleaner then #1 and a bit more functional on the iPad.

NEW #3 Touch Scratch

Still in the early planning phase of this template. Using the Rotary eq’s as a scratch pad. Buttons on top and bottom center maybe used for looping and cueing. Bigger shoter fader for quick cuts. Note sure if i should try and put any playlist functions in this yet. Maybe ontop or bottom center and get rid of some buttons?

PS: I will also be making settings for Virtual DJ and Deckadance as well as Traktor. But my templates are mostly suited for Traktor.

Description

Its not that slow at all over wifi. Audio plays great on it but video has some slow frame rates but you cant complain much because its free :) .

This is a very basic “how to” to get your Hercules RMX LEDs mapped into Traktor DJ. The same principles can be used in other mixers/controllers.

First download this mapping utility off the hercules rmx website. It gives you all the midi mapping info you need to get control of each led in your hercules rmx.

Then just click LED View and click the button you want to light up. Only the buttons with the white squares have LEDs.
Now down belen in the Midi: Table you will the the midi note number in this case the play button on deck A is CC 11 .
Now lets say you want the PLAY button to light up when you hit play and to turn off when its on pause.

Now just open up Traktor and go to Prefrences > Control Manager > Device > Generic Keyboard> Generic Midi (Hercules DJ Counsel > Add Output >Transport > Play/Pause
then follow this:

In Device mapping select the midi note you wanted to control CC 11 in this case is the PLAY button

Now Click Modifier ( the modifier is like a switch so set the Value to 0 for off)

Set your controller max range to 0 this will turn off the LED

Now click duplicate and put all the same settings in except your modifiers Value is now 1 for on and the Max will be 127 which makes the LED turn on

Now lets say you want your sync buttons to flash to the beat just follow the same formula except you want your output to be the BeatPhase

CC 7 is Deck A sync button The controller range right here is also adjustable but this time it changes how sensitive it will blink to the highs and lows of the song. And no modifier is needed here because your not turning this feature on or off. But if you wanted to you now know how from the pictures and text above. Also make sure you assign it to Deck A and Deck B accordingly for all your midi mapping.

Warning:
If you edit (by moving resizing items and /or adding/changing lables) to the TouchOSC Template in the TouchOSC Editor you do not need to make a new puredate patch.
If you add any new items (buttons slides ect…) besides lables you will need to convert the new template using TouchOSC to PureData Converter found here .
Then you must remap TouchOSC to TaktorDJ.

This is the template i made for TraktorDJ using the TouchOSC editor.

TouchOSC is avaible for the iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch
This app allows to remote control and receive feedback from software and hardware that implements the OSC protocol such as Pure Data, Max/MSP/Jitter, OSCulator, VDMX, Resolume Avenue 3, Modul8, Plogue Bidule, Reaktor, Quartz Composer, Vixid VJX16-4, Supercollider, FAW Circle, vvvv, Derivative TouchDesigner and others.

The interface provides a number of different touch controls to send/receive messages:

• Faders
• Rotary controls
• Push buttons
• Toggle buttons
• XY pads
• Multi-faders
• Multi-toggles
• LEDs
• Labels (New!)

It supports full multi-touch operation, five controls can be used at the same time. Additionally the program can send Accelerometer data. The application comes with five default layouts that are organized in multiple pages but custom layouts can be constructed using the TouchOSC Editor application which is available for Mac and Windows.

Learn how to speed up your iPhone or iPod Touch by removing unnecessary daemons that run in background while you use your device.

By doing this, you can save a lot of RAM usage and make your iPhone or iPod Touch faster.

What is daemons :

In Unix and other computer multitasking operating systems, a daemon is acomputer program that runs in the background, rather than under the direct control of a user; they are usually initiated as background processes.

Before doing anything, I want to warn you that I’m not resposible if anything happen to your device because now you are dealing with core system files in iPhone/iPod Touch. If you wrongly delete or messed up with the system files, this can lead to your data loss (Restore back the firmware) etc.So please MAKE BACKUP FIRST !!!

So now learn how to speed up your device.

First step,you need to SSH or using USB cables to browse your device folder. In this tutorials, I’m using iFunBox. Browse to folder called LaunchDaemons. It is located inSystem-Library-Launch Daemons.

Right Click on Launch Daemons folder and click on Copy to PC.

Now the next step is you need to delete unneeded .plist files located in Daemons Folder. Right Click and Delete.

Safe Daemons – These can be deleted by any user, with no adverse effects on the device.

1. com.apple.DumpPanic.plist – Dumps crashes for evaluation by Apple.
2. com.apple.ReportCrash.(Different Things).plist – There are 5 of these daemons, and they collect data about what caused a crash, what programs were running at the time, etc.
3. com.apple.CrashHouseKeeping.plist – Also deals with crashes.
4. com.apple.aslmanager.plist – This daemon manages system logs.
5. com.apple.syslogd.plist – Logs system events.
6. com.apple.powerlog.plist – This is used to monitor any incompatibilities with 3rd party chargers.
7. com.apple.stackshot.server.plist - This daemon’s function is currently unknown, butremoving it has no adverse effects on one’s device. Some more information can be found here, although the page is quite technical and isn’t very useful to an end-user.
8. com.apple.tcpdump.server.plist – This daemon is apparently used to dump traffic on a network (Source), but I don’t know what that means, exactly. Removing this daemon has no adverse effects on one’s device.
9. com.apple.iqagent.plist - This daemon’s function is currently unknown, but removingit has no adverse effects on one’s device.
10. com.apple.mobile.profile_janitor.plist – This daemon’s function is currently unknown, but removing it has no adverse effects on one’s device.
11. com.apple.chud.chum.plist – This daemon is thought to relate to Apple’s CHUD (Computer Hardware Understanding Developer) tools. Removing this daemon will have no adverse effects on your device, unless you are a developer.
12. com.apple.chud.pilotfish.plist – This daemon is also thought to relate to Apple’s CHUD tools. Removing this daemon will have no adverse effects on your device, unless you are a developer.

Conditional Daemons – These daemons can be disabled by certain users who have no need for some features of their device.

1. com.apple.AddressBook.plist – If removed, Contacts in the Phone application will load slightly slower. Disable this if you don’t care about that.
2. com.apple.accessoryd.plist – If removed, disables accessories like FM radio transmitters, iPhone docks, and AV cables. Accessories will be able to charge your device, but that is all they will be able to do. Remove this if you don’t use any of these accessories.
3. com.apple.apsd.plist - If removed, Push Notifications will no longer work. Disablethis if you don’t use Push Notifications.
4. com.apple.dataaccess.dataaccessd.plist – If removed, contacts will no longer sync via Exchange or Google Sync. Disable this if you don’t use those services.
5. com.apple.datamigrator.plist – Used to transfer contacts from SIM card to phone.iPod touch users can delete this.
6. com.apple.racoon.plist – Used for Virtual Private Networks. Disable this daemon if you do not use any VPNs.
7. com.apple.MobileInternetSharing.plist - Used for Internet Tethering. Disable this if you have an iPod touch or if you aren’t interested in tethering.
8. com.apple.aggregated.plist - It is believed that this performs some function related to Audio-In. If you have an iPod touch and do not intend to use Audio-In, disable this. iPhone users should leave this alone.
9. com.apple.AOSNotification.plist – This daemon deals with MobileMe syncing. If you do not use the MobileMe service, you can disable this.
10. com.apple.AdminLite.plist – This daemon tries to return control of your device to you if it thinks that you are waiting for a lengthly process to respond. It does this by force-quitting the process, so if you’re tired of your apps crashing and you would rather wait a few seconds for them to finish what they’re doing, disable this daemon.

Leave-Alone Daemons – These daemons are crucial to the operation of your device and should not be modified in any way.

1. com.apple.mobile.Lockdown.plist - Deals with SIM authorization and other important things.
2. com.apple.fairplayd.plist – This checks the DRM on your legitimately-acquired music and apps.
3. com.apple.installd.plist - Deals with app installation.
4. com.apple.BTServer.plist – If this daemon is disabled, your device will become extremely slow and unresponsive.
5. com.apple.configd+pm.plist - Deals with system configuration.
6. com.apple.configd-pm.plist – Also deals with system configuration.
7. com.apple.gmmd.plist – A debugging service for your device.
8. com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist - DNS. Disable this, and your Internet is completely gone.
9. com.apple.CommCenter.plist - Deals with making/receiving calls, etc. iPod touch users should still leave this alone.
10. com.apple.locationd.plist - Deals with GPS and location.
11. com.apple.mediaserverd.plist - Plays your music and videos.
12. com.apple.graphicsservices.sample.plist - Displays album artwork.
13. com.apple.usbptpd.plist – Allows your device to connect to your computer and charge.

So I decided to go to best buy to check out the iPad yesterday and immediately was impressed. I was surprised it wasn’t sold out…I would of waited for the 3g version but i have a jail broken iPhone with the My Wifi app installed so i can tether my iPhones internet to my iPad anywhere I want. So anyways heres a quick and dirty review of what i think so far. In the first 24 hours of owning it.

The Good
Build – very clean smooth edges feels sturdy

Speaker – is pretty loud about as loud as my HP DV5Z Laptop

The Awesome Battery -Played with it straight out of the box with no charging it came charged 100%. I used it for 6 hours straight with screen on full brightness with wifi on. I downloaded tons of apps and tested them all out and the battery only went down to 32%.

This morning for two hours I’ve been playing pandora radio streaming music for the first hour. The 2nd hour playing twit live streaming video and battery only dropped 10% not bad for 2 hours.

Screen- Very bright it could be used in the sun. It also has an awesome viewing angle on it. Photos and video look amazing bright and colorful.

Software- The OS is very snappy and fast. There’s tons of great apps your old iphone apps work well on the device in normal view and pixel doubling view look good. The lock screen as a photo slide show button which is nice to have. I play pandora radio go to the lock screen and it still stays active and plays while I load the photo slide show up and sit back and relax. Oh there’s apps that work both on the ipad and iphone/itouch they have a small symbol beside the app icon to let you know they have this ability.

The Bad
Must sync to your computer to activate it before you can use it.

Body- It is a little heavy to hold for more then 10 minutes at a time especially playing games.The back of the iPad is a little slippery so id suggested to use my “pro tip” or order a nice cover/skin to have a better grip.
Pro tip: I like to rest it on my fat tummy for support :)

Software- The apps on the ipad are more expensive then the iphone and itouch apps. I wouldn’t mind this if it was a dual compatible app that works on both ipad and iphone but some just re-release there app suited a little more for the ipad and charge an extra few bucks with none or hardly an extra features…for now anyways

So concluding id say $499 for this is a great deal for the iPad. It has an awesome battery the screen is great. Touch is very precise and responsive.  The OS is mature but still has a lot of room to grow. I’ll be using this for most of all my web browsing and gaming. Way more portable then a laptop. Its the kinda gadget you want for your self then wanna get one for everyone else in your family because its so nice and easy to use. Id definitely get this for my mom. :)

MusicBrainz Picard is a cross-platform (Linux/Mac OS X/Windows) application written in Python and is the official MusicBrainz tagger.

Picard supports the majority of audio file formats, is capable of using audio fingerprints (PUIDs), performing CD lookups and disc ID submissions, and it has excellent Unicode support. Additionally, there are several plugins available that extend Picard’s features.

The two plugins i found most useful were
Last.fm Tags – Use Last.fm tags as “genre” (This may slow down auto tagging significantly but does a good job)
Cover Art Downloader – Downloads cover art for optional tag embedding and/or saving as a separate image file (works fast and seamlessly)

This is a quick tutorial that will show how to get Hercules RMX installed and working with Mixxx DJ software on Ubuntu 9.10
- the Karmic Koala .

First go to http://www.mixxx.org/download.php and downloaded the latest version of Mixxx

Then download the package below and install the Hercules RMX driver for Ubuntu Here

Then download the Hercules RMX control panel here
